Alex Popadich

Dr. Aleksandra Popadich, originally from Croatia, relocated to New Zealand in 1995. She completed her medical degree at the University of Otago in 2002. Following this, Dr. Popadich undertook comprehensive surgical training across New Zealand, culminating in her attainment of the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2010.

Seeking to further enhance her expertise, Dr. Popadich pursued advanced specialisation in Sydney, focusing on Endocrine Surgery and Surgical Oncology with a particular emphasis on breast health.

Alex's journey into menopause management began when she assumed responsibilities from a predecessor at Boulcott Hospital. This transition exposed her to a range of menopause-related inquiries from patients, covering topics such as hot flashes, mood fluctuations, vaginal dryness and urinary symptoms. These questions had previously gone unaddressed, as patients felt uncomfortable discussing them with her male predecessor. Experiencing perimenopausal symptoms herself, Dr. Popadich recognised an opportunity to expand her professional focus. She subsequently joined the Australasian Menopause Society to deepen her knowledge in this critical area of women's health.

Outside of her professional commitments, Dr. Popadich maintains a busy and mostly balanced lifestyle. She values time spent with family across New Zealand, from Auckland to Hawke's Bay. Her personal interests include pickleball, mountain biking, cooking and eating, and practicing yoga and meditation, which she finds beneficial for maintaining focus and overall well-being.
